Interested in Hosting a Dinner & Discussion?

We’re grateful that you’re interested in creating meaningful dialogue within your community! Hosting a Dinner & Discussion is a weighty but beautiful calling. People will come trusting you to create an environment that feels safe, honoring, respectful, and fair. It’s also deeply rewarding—to watch walls come down and hearts open around a shared meal.

Set The Table is a faith-based organization because we believe the principles of human dignity come from God. We follow Christ’s invitation to love our enemies,  and extend grace and mercy even to those we disagree with. If that vision resonates with your heart, you may be called to host.

We’ll begin by having an exploration call to determine if the above values are in alignment. You need not make a declaration of faith nor is this about your political leaning. This about the posture of your heart. Once we’ve established that shared foundation, I’ll provide you with our Dinner & Discussion Host Roadmap, detailed one-on-one guidance & shared resources. Then we’ll move forward by co-facilitating your first Dinner & Discussion together to ensure it reflects the heart and tone that make these experiences so impactful.

After we co-facilitate your first Dinner & Discussion together, you can confidently continue hosting future gatherings on your own.

What’s required:

1. A Values Statement

All hosts will be asked to sign a brief values statement affirming their commitment to lead with humility, respect, and grace. It’s our way of protecting the trust and tone that make these gatherings so meaningful.

2. Access to a community you’re well-connected in.
We recommend your church, neighborhood, local community center, or a values-driven space where there’s already a level of trust and familiarity. In today’s polarized climate, we want to ensure every Dinner & Discussion provides a safe environment for all participants. We'll talk about best ways to invite those within and around your sphere of influence

3. Ability to sponsor a Set the Table–hosted evening.
Cost: typically $500–$1,500 (location-dependent). If cost is a challenge, you’re not alone — but there are creative ways to make it happen.

  • Hosts may partner with local churches or organizations who share their heart for connection and are happy to help sponsor the evening.

  • Alternatively, invite a few community members to contribute as a shared investment in connection and understanding.

If that sounds like a good fit, click the link below to schedule an exploration call, and let’s start planning your Dinner & Discussion experience!

**NOTE: We do not offer a directory of public dinners for those simply looking to attend. If you’d like to experience a Dinner & Discussion, we encourage you to find someone in your community who may be called to host—and direct them our way.
